Nature, Art & Myth

Music comes from the relationships of sound, rhythm, frequency and color. These are all qualities inherent in the natural world. It is helpful for the beginning cello student to have the opportunity of experiencing music as feeling, as a more advanced player would.

For the more advanced musician, experiences that enhance the musical imagination provide advancement into higher levels of creativity. Musical traditions, whether they be classical, jazz, folk, East Indian, or any other, are all wonderful places to begin. However, all roads eventually lead back home, home being the creative expression of one's own true nature.


Additional Thoughts:
Creativity is not an elective. It is a survival skill.

It has been said that music connects this world and these dimensions to all other worlds and dimensions.

In ancient China representatives of the emperor would determine the state of a province and its relationship to heaven based upon the character and the quality of the music performed. These observations would then be reported to the emperor.
